Abin Sreedharan K P, born in 1990 in Kerala, India, currently lives and works between Baroda and Kerala. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Calicut University, Kerala, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Sculpture from the College of Fine Arts in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication at Hyderabad Central University, Telangana. In 2023, he was an artist-in-residence at Gasworks, London.
Abin’s work uses found objects and imagery to construct imagined, animalistic forms that draw upon the aesthetics of historical and contemporary measuring instruments, as well as archival documents, news items, and photographs. Working across sculpture, painting and installation, Sreedharan consciously attempts to engage with the spoken and unspoken elements of the Indian art language in relation to subaltern and marginalized positions. Through his work he aims to highlight the historical and contemporary tensions grounded in these positions, and his own social identity.
